We ended the touring part of the day with a visit to Nazareth Village (see www.NazarethVillage.com), a recreation of what Nazareth might have looked like in Jesus’ time. Our tour guide was Rani, a 32-year old Arab who grew up in Nazareth and became a Christian in 2000. He married a girl from Rockwall, Texas!! He is now attending seminary in Nazareth. We ended our time with him by praying together. He was very knowledgeable about village life in the first century and helped us understand many of the rural nuances of Jesus’ teaching. For example, he showed us that there was a sight built into an ancient yoke that the farmer used to line up his oxen to plow straight rows. If you took your eyes off your yoke sight, you “got a mess.” This made sense of when Jesus said, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God” (Luke 9:62). Like most museums, this one ended in the gift shop where lots of shopping took place!
We then returned to our hotel in Tiberias. Some people — not this author who was whooped by this time! — continued on to a diamond operation. Others will have to describe that trip.
Tonight, we will have another worship service after dinner. We will focus on “the light of Tabor” and why saints are often depicted with halos.

Hey Sister, Bonnie,
Well I hope the weather is good for yall. This blog is great, tell the guy taking the pictures he’s doing a great job. Try to stand in front of his camera I have only seen 2 shots of you but I guess he’s not there to shoot you. Take lots of pictures can wait to see them. How is the food are you getting to eat lots of fish. Sounds like a neat trip something to do all the time and you didn’t have to plan it. Talk to you soon.

our group (Sept 09) went here too! Rani was amazing & the whole site was excellent. Tell my mom the Rockets were terrible against Miami – 30% shooting from the floor & only scored 66 points. They’re going to play Yates High School next.
